The characteristics and advantages of polymer lithium batteries

The three elements of an ordinary battery: positive electrode, negative electrode and electrolyte. The so-called polymer lithium battery refers to a battery system in which at least one or more of the three elements uses polymer materials. In lithium polymer battery systems, most polymer materials are used for positive electrodes and electrolytes. The cathode material uses conductive polymers or general inorganic compounds used in lithium ion batteries, the anode usually uses lithium metal or lithium-carbon intercalation compounds, and the electrolyte uses solid or colloidal polymer electrolytes or organic electrolytes. Since there is no excess electrolyte in the lithium polymer, it is more reliable and stable.

Polymer lithium batteries use aluminum alloy as the positive electrode, polymer conductive materials, polyacetylene, polyaniline or poly-p-phenol as the negative electrode, and organic solvents as the electrolyte. The specific energy of polyaniline lithium battery can reach 350W.h/kg, but the specific power is only 50-60W/kg, the working temperature is -40-70 degrees, and the service life is about 330 times.

Compared with lithium ion batteries, the characteristics of polymer lithium batteries are as follows:

1. The full charge voltage of the lithium battery is increased to 4.4V, which increases the energy density.

2. It can be made into a thin battery: the capacity is 3.6V250mAh, and the thickness can be as thin as 0.5mm.

3. The battery can be designed into various shapes.

4. The battery may be bent and deformed: more polymer batteries can be bent about 90 degrees.

5. It can be made into a single high voltage: a battery with a liquid electrolyte can only obtain high voltage by connecting multiple batteries in series. Since the polymer battery itself has no liquid, it can be made into a multi-layer combination in a single battery to achieve high voltage.

6. The capacity will be twice that of a lithium-ion battery of the same size.
